Who might be able to join this trial:
Uncontrolled Asthma Group
- People aged 5 years or older, male or female
- People (or their legal guardian, if under 18) who have read, understood, and signed the consent forms for the study
- People who have been diagnosed with asthma
- People who are willing and able to complete all parts of the study
- People whose asthma is not well controlled, shown by having at least 3 of the following symptoms on at least 2 days in the week before the first visit: coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, waking at night due to asthma, or having their daily activities limited by asthma
- People whose airways show a level of inflammation (measured by a breath test called FeNO) of at least 30 ppb for adults, or at least 25 ppb for those under 18 years old
Controlled Asthma Group
- People aged 5 years or older, male or female
- People (or their legal guardian, if under 18) who have read, understood, and signed the consent forms for the study
- People who have had an established asthma diagnosis for at least 180 days before the first visit
- People who are willing and able to complete all parts of the study
Who may not be able to join:
Uncontrolled Asthma Group
- People who need immediate emergency medical care
- People who have recently used certain asthma medicines — specifically, oral corticosteroids within the past 4 weeks, inhaled corticosteroids (including as-needed combined inhalers) within the past 2 weeks, or biologic injection therapies (such as omalizumab or dupilumab) within the past 12 weeks
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot safely take corticosteroid medicines
- People who have shown significant non-compliance in a previous clinical trial
- People who have taken part in another clinical study involving a medicine, biologic, or medical device within the past 30 days (or within a specific timeframe based on the drug used — confirm with trial site)
- People who have other significant lung or breathing conditions, such as COPD or cystic fibrosis
- People who are employees or close relatives of the companies running or supporting this trial, including Biometry Inc., the research organisation managing the study, the trial site, or study vendors
- People who have any other condition that the study doctor considers would make participation unsuitable
- People with a smoking history of 10 or more pack-years, or who have smoked in the past 180 days — this includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, cigars, and chewing or dipping tobacco
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
