Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are male or female and are older than 16 years of age
  • You have Crohn's disease affecting the lower part of your small intestine or the area where the small and large intestines meet, and your doctor has recommended surgery to remove that section
  • You are currently taking medications such as steroids, certain anti-inflammatory drugs, immune-suppressing medications, antibiotics, or biological therapies — these are all allowed
  • You have recently had a colonoscopy and an up-to-date scan, such as an ultrasound or MRI (or CT scan if MRI is not suitable for you)
  • You are able and willing to follow the requirements of the study
  • You are able to understand what the trial involves and can sign a consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are not able to understand or agree to the terms of the trial and give your consent
  • You are under 16 years of age
  • You have had a serious health condition in the last six months, such as a heart attack, chest pain caused by heart problems, or heart failure, or another condition that the research team feels could put you at risk (confirm with trial site)
  • You have been diagnosed with cancer within the last 5 years in a way that could affect your outlook or recovery
  • You need emergency surgery
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You are unable to attend follow-up appointments at 3, 6, and 12 months after your operation for check-ups, scans, and camera tests
