Who might be able to join this trial:

For the suspected asthma group:

• People aged 18 or older (or the legal age of consent in the country where the study is taking place) who have not yet been formally diagnosed with asthma
• People experiencing symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, or shortness of breath, without a confirmed asthma diagnosis

For the suspected COPD group:

• People aged 40 or older who have not yet been formally diagnosed with COPD
• People experiencing symptoms such as breathlessness, a long-lasting cough, or regularly coughing up mucus, without a confirmed COPD diagnosis

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have already been diagnosed with COPD or asthma
• People who have used inhaled corticosteroid (steroid) medicines in the past 6 months, or steroid tablets/liquids taken by mouth in the past 3 months
• People with other conditions that affect how the lungs work, such as lung cancer, pneumonia, active tuberculosis, pulmonary embolism, or certain scarring lung diseases
• People who have recently had surgery affecting the lungs or chest, such as chest-opening surgery, surgery for a collapsed lung, or chest drainage procedures
• People for whom breathing tests (spirometry or oscillometry) are not medically appropriate, or who have an allergy to bronchodilator medicines (medicines that open the airways)
• People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
• People whom the trial doctor considers unlikely to be able to follow the study's procedures and requirements
