Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are scheduled for a planned (non-emergency) surgery to remove part of the pancreas (called a pancreatoduodenectomy), whether done through small incisions or open surgery
- Your main pancreatic duct (a small tube in the pancreas) measures 3mm or less, as seen on a CT or MRI scan before surgery
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- In the opinion of the medical team running the trial, you are considered safe to receive the study medications (hydrocortisone and octreotide) based on your individual health situation
Who may not be able to join:
- You are under 18 years of age
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You have a known allergy or bad reaction to either of the study medications: hydrocortisone or octreotide
- You currently have a serious fungal infection affecting your whole body
- You are taking certain medications that strongly affect how the body processes drugs (called CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers) and cannot stop taking them — some of these must be stopped at least 7 days before joining, and others at least 28 days before joining (confirm with trial site)
