Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be willing to give your consent to take part in the study
- You must have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or a related condition (on the schizophrenia spectrum)
- You must have mild to moderate symptoms (such as hallucinations or delusions), not severe ones, as measured by a standard rating scale
- You must speak German as your native language or at a native-level fluency
- Your psychiatric medication must not have changed in the 2 weeks before joining the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently experiencing a severe, acute psychotic episode with intense symptoms
- You are currently having thoughts of suicide or are considered at immediate risk of harming yourself
- You are currently in an active phase of substance or alcohol dependency (note: nicotine use is not excluded)
- You have serious physical disabilities, neurological conditions, or significant brain injuries (such as early childhood brain damage)
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You are currently receiving electroconvulsive therapy (ECT)
Additionally, if any of the following apply to you, the trial team will have an individual discussion with you to decide if you can still take part:
- Your weight is significantly low or high (BMI below 17.5 or above 30)
- You have a condition affecting your hormonal or endocrine system
- You have reduced kidney or liver function
- You have a metabolic condition (confirm with trial site)
- You have asthma
- You have abnormal potassium or sodium levels in your blood
