Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 or older, of any gender
  • People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of oesophageal cancer (squamous cell cancer in the chest area of the oesophagus), confirmed by tissue testing, at a particular stage of disease (confirm with trial site for stage details)

  • People who are currently receiving or have previously received chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or targeted therapy for this cancer
  • People with a history of another cancer, unless that cancer has been in full remission for at least 5 years and no further treatment for it is expected during the study
  • People with active autoimmune conditions (where the immune system attacks the body), such as certain lung, gut, liver, or kidney conditions — some exceptions may apply (confirm with trial site)
  • People with an active hepatitis B or hepatitis C infection
  • Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or women of childbearing age who are not using contraception during the trial; also people with immune system deficiencies, HIV, a history of organ transplant, or bone marrow transplant
  • People with serious heart conditions that are not well controlled, such as significant heart failure, unstable chest pain, a heart attack within the past 6 months, or certain uncontrolled heart rhythm problems
  • People considered unsuitable by the trial investigators after an overall assessment
