Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 40 and 80 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with COPD (a lung condition) confirmed by breathing tests.
- You have been using a breathing support machine at home (called NIV therapy) for at least 6 months, and you use it for more than 5 hours every day.
- Your home breathing machine is the ResMed LUMIS 150 model specifically.
- You are currently experiencing a flare-up of your COPD that has required either a hospital stay or care at home.
Who may not be able to join:
- You are not willing or able to give your formal agreement (consent) to take part in the trial.
- You needed antibiotics and/or steroid tablets due to your COPD becoming unstable at any point in the two months before your current flare-up (note: any treatment taken in the 48 hours just before being admitted is not counted against you, as this is considered part of your current flare-up).
