Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with Down syndrome caused by a full extra copy of chromosome 21 (trisomy 21) or a related chromosomal change, confirmed by a genetic test or medical records
- You are 18 years old or older
- You have a caregiver or someone who knows you well, who spends more than 10 hours per week with you and can answer questions about your health
- You (or your legal representative) are able to understand what the study involves and are willing to sign a consent form and complete the study activities
- If you are female, you are not currently pregnant and do not plan to become pregnant in the next 6 months
Who may not be able to join:
- Your urine shows very high levels of a protein called albumin (above a certain threshold on a kidney health test) (confirm with trial site)
- Your liver enzyme levels (AST or ALT) are significantly above the normal range on a blood test
- Your kidneys are not filtering blood well enough, based on a blood test result
- Your blood's red cell level (hematocrit) is too low or too high
- You have had a serious heart or cardiovascular event (such as a heart attack or stroke) in the past 3 months
- You have taken part in another drug or biological treatment trial in the past 3 months
- You currently have a problem with alcohol or drug use or dependence
- You have certain mental health conditions, such as major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, or current symptoms that could make it hard to take part in the study
- You have been hospitalised for a serious illness, including COVID-19, in the past 3 months, or have had any acute illness including COVID-19 in the past month
- You have previously had a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis) to vitamin B3 or related substances
- Your body mass index (BMI) is above 42.5 (confirm with trial site)
- You are unable to walk
