Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with a stroke
• People who score above 24 on a standard memory and thinking assessment called the Mini-Mental State Examination
• People whose muscle stiffness in the affected limb is rated below 3 on a standard scale used by clinicians (called the Modified Ashworth Scale)
• People who are able to bend their wrist upward (extend it) by more than 10 degrees on the affected side
• People whose stroke recovery is rated above stage 3 on a standard movement recovery scale called the Brunnstrom scale
• People who score above 22 on a standard arm function assessment called the Fugl-Meyer Upper Extremity scale

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have significant difficulty paying attention to one side of their body or environment (sometimes called neglect)
• People who have significant vision problems
• People who have communication difficulties that would make taking part in assessments or the treatment itself too difficult
• People who have a nerve injury in the arm or hand being assessed
• People who have received botulinum toxin (such as Botox) injections into the affected arm or hand within the past six months
• People who have had major surgery on the bones or joints of the affected arm or hand
• People who have serious ongoing health conditions affecting other parts of the body
• People who have a history of epileptic seizures
