Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are between 18 and 55 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia for at least 1 year before the screening visit
- People who are currently experiencing a worsening or return of schizophrenia symptoms that started less than 2 months before screening and who are currently in hospital because of this
- People who have previously responded well to at least one antipsychotic medication (other than clozapine) during a past episode
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are considered to be at immediate risk of harming themselves or others
- People who have a history of epilepsy, seizures, or convulsions
- People who have low blood pressure when standing up, or a history of certain heart or blood vessel conditions, including high blood pressure in the lungs, blocked arteries in the heart, thickened heart muscle, heart attack, heart failure, or moderate to severe heart valve problems, among other heart-related conditions (confirm with trial site)
- People who are currently taking certain medications that are not allowed in this trial (confirm with trial site for the specific list)
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
