Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia according to a standard diagnostic guide (DSM-5-TR), confirmed through a structured clinical interview, and who are experiencing symptoms of psychosis at the time of screening.
- People whose symptoms score at least 70 on a standard schizophrenia symptom scale (called the PANSS) at both the screening visit and the randomisation visit.
- People whose overall illness severity is rated at 4 or higher on a standard clinical scale (called the CGI-S) at both the screening visit and the randomisation visit.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been diagnosed with another primary mental health condition (other than schizophrenia) within the 12 months before screening.
- People who have a significant medical condition affecting the heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, blood, digestive system, hormones, immune system, skin, nervous system, or cancer — or any other condition the trial doctor considers a safety concern.
- People who have any level of liver impairment, whether mild, moderate, or severe.
- People with a known intellectual disability (defined as an IQ below 70), or where there is clinical, social, or school history that suggests an intellectual disability.
- People with a neurological disorder, except for those with Tourette's Syndrome.
- People whose blood pressure measurements meet the criteria for stage 2 high blood pressure (confirm with trial site for specific thresholds).
- There may be additional criteria not listed here that the trial site will assess.
