Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) at least 6 months before joining the trial
- People who have walking difficulties after their stroke, shown by walking slower than 0.8 metres per second on a standard 10-metre walking test
- People who are willing and able to give their informed consent to participate
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose stroke was caused by bleeding in the brain (rather than a blocked blood vessel)
- People who have had, or are currently experiencing, psychosis or substance misuse within the past two years
- People who had significant disability or dependence before their stroke, as measured by a standard disability scale called the modified Rankin Scale (confirm with trial site)
- People who are unable to attend and take part in rehabilitation sessions at the clinic
- People who have a pre-existing neurological condition that affects walking or movement, such as Parkinson's disease, ALS (motor neurone disease), Multiple Sclerosis, dementia, or a significant previous head injury
