Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have signed and dated a consent form agreeing to take part in the study voluntarily
- You are 18 years old or older at the time of signing the consent form
- You weigh at least 50 kg (about 110 lbs)
- You have been diagnosed with one of the following cancers that has spread to other parts of the body, confirmed by a tissue biopsy: clear-cell kidney cancer; non-small cell lung cancer (a specific type without certain gene changes called EGFR and ALK mutations); prostate cancer that no longer responds to hormone treatment; breast cancer (with a known status for certain hormone and protein markers); or squamous cell cancer or salivary gland cancer of the head and neck
- Your tumor tissue shows a certain level of a protein called FGFR1 when tested in a lab (a score of 2+ or higher)
- Your cancer has continued to grow or spread after at least two standard treatments, or there are no other standard treatment options available to you
- You have at least one tumor that can be measured using standard imaging scans
- A stored tumor tissue sample (preserved in a specific way) is available for testing
- You are generally able to carry out everyday activities, with at most mild limitations (confirm with trial site what this means for your situation)
- Your blood test results taken within 7 days before the start of the trial show that your blood counts, kidney function, liver function, and certain mineral levels (phosphorus, calcium, potassium) are all within acceptable ranges
- Your doctor estimates you are likely to live for more than 12 weeks
- There are no personal, family, social, or location-related circumstances that would make it hard for you to follow the study schedule and requirements
- If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you are using an effective form of contraception
Who may not be able to join:
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial or have received an experimental treatment within the last 28 days
- You have cancer that has spread to the brain or spinal cord at the time of joining — unless those brain metastases have been treated, have been stable for at least one month, you are not taking steroids for them, and you are mentally well enough to give consent
- You have any ongoing medical, psychological, or other condition that could affect your safety, make it hard to complete the study, or make the results difficult to interpret (confirm with trial site)
- You have had another type of cancer in the past 5 years, unless it was a very early-stage or limited skin cancer or cervical cancer that was fully treated and well controlled
- You regularly use recreational drugs, or have had a drug or alcohol problem within the past year
- You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant during the study
- You are known to be HIV-positive
- You have an active hepatitis B or C infection
- You have signs of active bleeding or a condition that causes abnormal bleeding
- You have had radiation therapy within the 14 days before joining the trial
- You have had surgery, tumor embolization, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biological therapy, or other anti-cancer treatments within 14 days (or longer, depending on the specific drug) before starting the study treatment — with an exception for ongoing hormone-blocking therapy for prostate cancer
- You have previously been treated with any drug that blocks or inhibits the FGFR protein
