Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer (a specific type called adenocarcinoma) that has been confirmed by a tissue sample and has not spread beyond the prostate area
- People who have had the recommended scans and tests to assess how far their cancer has spread, based on their risk level (advanced imaging scans may be used instead of a bone scan in some cases)
- People who show no signs of cancer spread to lymph nodes in the upper abdomen, bones, or internal organs (some lymph node involvement lower in the pelvis may still be acceptable)
- People who are reasonably active and able to carry out daily activities, as measured by a standard medical scale (ECOG score of 2 or lower)
- People who are able to have a special type of MRI scan of the pelvis called a magnetic resonance angiography (MRA)
- People who do not need urgent or emergency radiation treatment
- People who are able to give written consent and are willing and able to follow the study requirements
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose prostate cancer is a rare type called neuroendocrine or small cell carcinoma
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body (some lymph node involvement in the lower pelvis area may be considered acceptable at the investigator's discretion)
- People whose biopsy, MRI, or special PET scan shows a tumour in the middle section of the prostate or across both outer sides of the prostate
- People who have previously had whole-prostate treatments such as cryosurgery (freezing), high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), brachytherapy (internal radiation seeds), or other whole-gland ablation treatments
- People who have previously had radiation therapy to the pelvic area
- People with a history of Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or a condition called ataxia telangiectasia
- People who already have a penile implant or prosthesis in place before treatment begins
