Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a man or woman between 18 and 65 years old at the time of signing the consent form.
  • You have lost 50% or more of the hair on your scalp, with no signs of new terminal hair growing back, as confirmed at both your screening and first study visits.
  • Your current episode of hair loss has been going on for at least 6 months but no longer than 7 years.
  • If you are a woman who could become pregnant, or a man, you must agree to follow the study's requirements to avoid pregnancy during the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a type of hair loss other than alopecia areata (for example, hair loss caused by pulling or scarring).
  • You have the "diffuse" type of alopecia areata, where hair loss is spread evenly across the scalp.
  • You currently have another skin condition (such as psoriasis, seborrheic dermatitis, or lupus) that could affect how your alopecia areata is assessed.
  • You have previously had a serious allergic or adverse reaction to a medication given by injection under the skin.
  • Your blood test results at screening show that your liver is not functioning within acceptable levels (confirm with trial site).
  • You are taking, or plan to take, any medications that are not allowed by this study, or you have not completed the required "washout period" (a waiting period after stopping certain medications) before joining.
