Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women between 18 and 80 years of age
- People who have had breast cancer confirmed by a tissue test (such as a biopsy) before surgery
- People whose breast has enough tissue so that the tumor makes up no more than 20% of the total breast volume
- People with a single tumor that is contained within the breast tissue
- People who clearly want to keep their breast and are willing to have one of the two surgical approaches used in this trial

Who may not be able to join:
- People who have widespread suspicious areas or calcium deposits in the breast where surgery is unlikely to fully remove the cancer or produce a good cosmetic result
- People with cancer in both breasts, or a type of breast cancer called inflammatory breast cancer
- People who have received treatment to shrink the cancer before surgery and also need additional procedures done at the same time as their breast surgery
- People who are unable to safely have general anesthesia or undergo surgery
- People who have a medical reason they cannot have radiation therapy, have had previous radiation to the chest wall, or whose breast cancer is linked to pregnancy or breastfeeding
- People who do not wish to have either of the surgical approaches used in this trial
