Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are 18 years of age or older
  • You have been diagnosed with osteoarthritis in your knee or hip
  • Your pain during your most painful movement in the last 24 hours rates at least 4 out of 10 on a pain scale
  • Your osteoarthritis significantly affects your daily functioning, based on a standard questionnaire score (confirm with trial site)
  • You are able to walk and move around independently

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an autoimmune condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, or lupus
  • You have had a joint injury, joint infection, a torn meniscus, or have completely lost the cartilage in the affected joint
  • You are expecting to have joint surgery
  • You have received injections of steroids or thick fluid (viscous) into the affected joint, or have taken steroid tablets by mouth, within the last 12 months
  • You have a known allergy to any ingredient in the trial treatment or to anti-inflammatory painkillers (such as ibuprofen)
  • You have or have had stomach ulcers or bleeding in the upper digestive tract
  • You drink heavily, are unable to avoid alcohol during the trial, or have a history of substance abuse or addiction
  • You have or have had a tumour or cancer
  • You have abnormal kidney or liver function, or other abnormal blood test results
  • You are currently taking other medications that could interfere with the trial treatments (confirm with trial site)
