Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have been diagnosed with prostate cancer confirmed by a tissue biopsy, with no signs that the cancer has spread to distant parts of the body
  • People whose prostate cancer is classified as intermediate or high risk, based on at least one of the following: the cancer has grown to a certain size or extent within or just outside the prostate (based on physical examination or imaging scans), an aggressive cancer grade (Gleason score of 4+3 or higher), or cancer that has spread to nearby lymph nodes
  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who are generally well enough to carry out daily activities with no limitation, or with only minor limitations (this is measured using a standard health scale called the WHO performance score of 0 or 1)
  • People who have a clearly visible area of cancer within the prostate on an MRI scan
  • People whose cancer is considered suitable for a focused, high-dose radiation boost to the tumour area
  • People who are able to give written consent to participate and are willing to attend follow-up appointments

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose general health or ability to carry out daily activities is significantly limited (WHO performance score of 2 or higher)
  • People for whom an MRI scan cannot be performed for any personal medical reason
  • People whose cancer has grown into nearby structures beyond the prostate (classified as T4 stage)
  • People with severe urinary symptoms, based on a standard prostate symptom questionnaire score of 20 or higher
  • People in whom small marker seeds (fiducial markers) cannot be placed inside the prostate to help guide radiation treatment
  • People who have had a prostate surgery called TURP within 3 months before the start of treatment
  • People who have previously had radiation treatment to the pelvic area
  • People whom the treating doctor considers unlikely to be able to follow the requirements of the trial
  • People with a history of chronic inflammatory bowel disease
