Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with aphasia (difficulty speaking or understanding language) following a stroke
- People who are right-handed
- People who are native Chinese speakers and can understand Mandarin
- People between 18 and 80 years of age
- People who have complete assessment results and brain scan data available
- People for whom consent has been given by both the patient and their family
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose stroke affected the cerebellum (the lower back part of the brain), or whose brain scans did not fully capture the cerebellum
- People with severe difficulty controlling the muscles used for speaking (known as severe dysarthria)
- People who have epilepsy with occasional seizures occurring at the same time as their other conditions
- People who have a pacemaker or a deep brain stimulator implanted in their body
- People who have previously had brain tissue surgically removed due to conditions such as a brain tumour or brain abscess
- People who have other serious psychiatric (mental health) conditions

Aphasia Battery of Chinese (ABC,comprising spontaneous speech, auditory comprehension, repetition, naming, reading, writing, structural and spatial functions, application and calculation); Verbal fluency test (VFT); Western Aphasia Battery (WAB, including fluency and information content)
