Who might be able to join this trial:
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is 27 or higher (a measure of weight relative to height) at the time of screening
- Your weight has been fairly stable — changing less than 5% — for the past 3 months before screening
- You have tried at least one diet to lose weight in the past but were not successful
- You have osteoarthritis of the knee AND at least one of the following: you are over 50 years old, you experience morning knee stiffness lasting around 30 minutes, or you have a crackling or grinding sensation in your knee
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had, or are planning to have, surgery specifically to treat obesity (note: certain cosmetic procedures like liposuction may be allowed if done more than 1 year before screening — confirm with trial site)
- You have had, or are planning to have, a procedure or device-based treatment aimed at treating obesity (a past device may be acceptable if it was removed more than 6 months before screening — confirm with trial site)
- You have any type of diabetes, including type 1 or type 2
- You currently have an active infection in your knee
- You have had a heart attack, stroke, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries, unstable chest pain, or been hospitalised for heart failure within the past 90 days
- You have been diagnosed with the most severe category of heart failure (Class IV), which severely limits physical activity
- You have taken any prescription or alternative medicines intended to help with weight loss within the past 90 days before screening
