Who might be able to join this trial:

• Adults who are generally healthy, between 35 and 65 years old, both men and women
• People with a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 18.5 and 29.9 (a measure of body weight relative to height that falls within the "normal" to "overweight" range)
• People who do not smoke, or who stopped smoking at least 12 months ago
• People who drink alcohol only in moderate amounts — no more than 2 standard drinks per day for men, and no more than 1 standard drink per day for women
• People whose blood sugar and cholesterol levels are normal at the initial screening check
• People who are willing and able to avoid alcohol, certain foods high in plant compounds (such as berries, tea, and red wine), and intense physical activity for 48 hours before each study visit
• People who can understand what the study involves and who agree to take part by signing a consent form

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a history of, or signs of, heart, liver, kidney, thyroid, digestive, or metabolic conditions — including diabetes, abnormal cholesterol levels, or high blood pressure
• People who are currently taking medications or supplements that are known to affect blood sugar, cholesterol, or inflammation — for example, statins, steroids, or anti-inflammatory medicines
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
• People who have donated blood in the past 3 months, or who plan to donate blood during the study period
• People whose body weight has changed by more than 5% in the last 3 months
• People who have taken part in another clinical or medical research study in the past 3 months
• People who have a known allergy or intolerance to wine, alcohol, or related ingredients such as sulfites
• People who have a history of alcohol misuse, or who would be unable to avoid drinking alcohol outside of what the study allows
• People who would not want to be told about any unexpected health findings that may come up during the study
• People with any condition — such as certain mental health conditions or difficulty following fasting instructions — that the study investigators consider may affect safe or full participation (confirm with trial site)
