Who might be able to join this trial:

For all participants:

• You are between 21 and 70 years old
• You are able to read, understand, and sign a consent form agreeing to take part

For the healthy weight group:

• Your BMI (a measure of body weight relative to height) falls between 18.5 and 24.9, which is considered a normal, healthy weight range
• You do not have any long-term or ongoing health conditions
• You are not taking any regular, long-term medications

For the severe obesity group:

• Your BMI is above 32.5, which is considered severely obese
• You are already scheduled to have weight-loss (bariatric) surgery

Who may not be able to join:

• You are currently pregnant
• There are concerns that you may have difficulty following the study's rules and schedule (confirm with trial site)
• You have ever been diagnosed with an autoimmune hair loss condition or a type of hair loss that causes permanent scarring, such as alopecia areata, discoid lupus, or lichen planopilaris
