Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are suspected of having localised prostate cancer (cancer that has not spread beyond the prostate)
  • People who have 1 or 2 areas of concern (rated PI-RADS 3–5) seen on a specific type of prostate MRI scan called a biparametric MRI
  • People whose initial biopsy (either a general tissue sample or one targeted at the area of concern, with at least two samples taken per area) did not find a significant grade of prostate cancer (ISUP grades 2–5)
  • People whose prostate biopsies can be performed through the rectum as an outpatient procedure (no hospital stay required)
  • People who are estimated to have a life expectancy of more than 10 years
  • People who are cooperative, fluent in Finnish, and able to understand what the study involves
  • People who are willing to sign an ethics committee–approved consent form before joining the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have had prostate biopsies at any point before the biopsy that led to being considered for this trial
  • People where the treating doctor suspects the cancer may be locally advanced or high-risk — absolute reasons for exclusion include a PSA level above 20 ng/ml, or MRI or physical examination findings suggesting T4-stage prostate disease (confirm with trial site for what this means in your case)
  • People who experienced a serious infection or other serious complication following the initial biopsy
  • People with severely weakened immune systems due to an organ transplant, a blood or bone marrow condition, or similar causes
  • People who have already received any treatment for prostate cancer found during the initial biopsy
  • People who have a hip replacement or any other object in the pelvic area that would prevent a high-quality MRI scan from being taken
  • People who experience claustrophobia or have any other reason that would make having a high-quality MRI scan unsafe or not possible
