Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are male and between 18 and 60 years old (inclusive), and are generally in good health.
  • You have been diagnosed with male-pattern hair loss (the most common type of baldness in men) following specific Chinese clinical guidelines, your hair loss has been happening for less than 5 years, and your hair loss falls within a moderate range on a standard hair loss scale (stages II to IV).
  • You are able to understand what the study involves, including its possible benefits and risks, and are willing to sign a consent form before anything study-related begins.
  • You agree to follow the study's rules and to avoid using any other hair loss treatments during the study.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are unwilling or unable to sign a written consent form.
  • You have had any type of cancer in the past 5 years (with some exceptions for certain minor, fully treated skin cancers not on the scalp — confirm with trial site).
  • You have had low blood pressure (below 90/60) in the past month, or high blood pressure that has not been brought under control despite taking at least two blood pressure medications in the past 3 months.
  • You have a known medical condition that could affect hair growth or interfere with the study results, such as HIV, thyroid problems, iron deficiency, certain immune or connective tissue diseases, malnutrition, or syphilis.
  • You have a different type of hair loss other than male-pattern baldness, such as patchy hair loss (alopecia areata) or scarring hair loss.
  • You have a history of a major organ problem, a significant autoimmune disease, or a weakened immune system.
  • You have a known blood clotting disorder, currently take blood-thinning medication (other than low-dose aspirin), or have an inherited condition that affects bleeding.
  • You have received chemotherapy, drugs that damage cells, radiation to the scalp, or laser or surgical hair restoration treatment within the past 12 months.
  • You have previously had a hair transplant, or you would need to regularly wear a wig, hairpiece, or hair bonding product during the trial.
  • You have a history of severe or multiple drug allergies, are prone to allergic conditions generally, are known to be allergic to local anaesthetics, or plan to have allergy desensitisation therapy during the study.
  • You currently have an active skin condition in the area of the scalp being studied, such as an infection, dandruff, psoriasis, eczema, inflamed hair follicles, open wounds, scars, or thinning skin.
  • You have taken part in another clinical trial involving a treatment or intervention within the past 4 weeks.
  • You have any other medical or mental health condition that the study doctor believes could affect your safety, your ability to follow the study rules, or your suitability for the trial.
