Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 years or older (up to 100 years old)
  • People who have been diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD) — a condition where reduced blood flow affects the arteries in the legs — confirmed through symptoms, physical examination, a circulation test called an ankle-brachial index (ABI), and imaging of the blood vessels
  • Alternatively, healthy adults who do not have PAD (with a normal circulation test result, no relevant symptoms, and no history of heart or artery disease) and who meet all other criteria for the trial
  • People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with severe uncontrollable movement disorders (such as advanced Parkinson's disease or a condition affecting balance and coordination) that would interfere with the imaging process
  • People who have a known allergy or sensitivity to the ultrasound contrast agent used in this trial (a substance called SonoVue®, which contains sulfur hexafluoride microbubbles)
  • People with an active serious infection in the lower leg or foot (such as a diabetic foot infection with whole-body symptoms, or a bone infection) that would make safe data collection difficult
  • People with significant memory or thinking difficulties, or a legal status, that means they are unable to independently agree to take part
  • People (or their legal representative) who do not wish to provide consent to participate
