Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with a lower respiratory tract infection (an infection affecting the lungs or airways)
• People who are breathing faster than normal (tachypnea)
• People who have a wheezing sound when breathing
• People who are showing visible effort when breathing, such as the muscles around the chest pulling in (retractions)
• People who are experiencing breathing difficulties

Who may not be able to join:

• People with a serious heart defect present from birth (certain minor heart defects such as small holes between heart chambers or a specific vessel abnormality may still be considered — confirm with trial site)
• People with cystic fibrosis or primary ciliary dyskinesia (a condition affecting tiny hair-like structures in the airways)
• People with muscle or nerve diseases, or other conditions that make it harder to clear the airways
• People with severe airway softness/weakness (called severe malacia), confirmed by a camera examination of the airways before the start of the trial
• People who have inhaled a foreign object into their airway
• People with a collapsed lung (pneumothorax)
• People with fluid around the lung that requires a medical procedure to treat
• People who were born very prematurely (before 32 weeks of pregnancy) or who have a chronic lung condition related to premature birth (bronchopulmonary dysplasia)
• People whose caregiver is not able to communicate in Norwegian or English
• People who weigh less than 3 kilograms
