Who might be able to join this trial:

• Pregnant people aged 19 or older who are recruited during their first, second, or early third trimester of pregnancy
• People who own or regularly have access to a smartphone that works with an app called RXFood
• For the IBD group: people who have a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, whether their disease is currently active or settled
• For the non-IBD comparison group: people who do not have inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are unable to give informed consent to participate
• People who have previously had cancer in the digestive tract or have had bowel surgery
• People with kidney disease
• People living with HIV/AIDS or another serious infection
• People whose pregnancy has been found to involve chromosomal or structural abnormalities in the baby
• People who have other immune-related conditions, such as multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, or primary sclerosing cholangitis
• People who have taken prebiotic, probiotic, or postbiotic supplements in the month before their first sample collection
• People who have had a stomach or gut infection during or within one month before their first sample collection
• People who have travelled outside of Canada or the United States in the month before their first sample collection
• For the IBD group: pregnant people whose IBD involves active perianal disease (around the anal area) or disease affecting areas outside the intestines
