Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been formally diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC)
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old (any gender)

  • You are not willing to have a colonoscopy
  • You have a serious or unstable long-term health condition affecting your heart, lungs, liver, or kidneys
  • You have or have had a cancer diagnosis, including bowel cancer
  • You have previously received the specific needle-embedding therapy used in this trial
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a diagnosed mental illness
  • You have a blood clotting disorder, or skin problems at the areas where needles would be placed (such as infections, ulcers, or scars)
  • You have a strong fear of needles or do not wish to receive acupuncture-style treatment
  • There is any other reason the trial team believes you may not be suitable or able to follow the study requirements (confirm with trial site)
