Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between the ages of 40 and 85 years old
- People who are able to walk around both at home and in the community
- People who have been diagnosed with knee osteoarthritis in one or both knees, confirmed by imaging at a moderate to severe level (Kellgren-Lawrence grade II–IV) (confirm with trial site)
- People whose more-affected knee has a pain level of 3 to 10 out of 10, and whose other knee has a pain score at least 2 points lower, based on the worst pain felt in the past week
- People who are able to give their own consent to participate and are willing to follow all study procedures and attend all assessments
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have planned surgery on either knee at any point during the study period, including before and after training assessments
- People who have had a surgical procedure (such as arthroscopy, microfracture, or removal of knee cartilage) on the more-affected knee within the past 6 months
- People who have received steroid or hyaluronic acid injections into the more-affected knee within the past 12 weeks
- People who have planned steroid or hyaluronic acid injections into either knee at any point during the study period
- People who have previously had a full or partial knee replacement in the more-affected knee
- People who have had a blood disorder (such as blood clots, hemophilia, leukemia, or myeloma) within the past 2 years, or who have or have had cancer within the past 2 years (excluding treated basal or squamous cell skin cancer)
- People with a current diagnosis of fibromyalgia
- People with an active autoimmune disease or a history of inflammatory joint conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, or reactive arthritis (some mild or well-controlled conditions may be considered — confirm with trial site)
- People with other joint conditions such as gout, osteonecrosis, joint infection, Paget's disease, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, or other listed joint diseases
- People whose overall health, medical history, or test results are considered by the lead researcher to make participation risky or unsuitable
- People who have used opioid pain medications within the past 8 weeks and are not willing to stop taking them for the full duration of the study
