Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (UC) for at least 6 months.
  • Your symptoms are well controlled — meaning little to no stool frequency issues and no rectal bleeding, based on a standard scoring system doctors use.
  • A recent camera examination of your colon (colonoscopy), done within the last 12 weeks, showed that your colon lining looks normal or nearly normal.
  • You have been on a stable treatment for your UC (such as certain anti-inflammatory, immune-suppressing, or biologic medicines) for at least 8 weeks without changes.
  • You are willing and able to give written consent to take part in the trial.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have been diagnosed with a type of bowel disease that is unclear (indeterminate colitis) or Crohn's disease, rather than ulcerative colitis.
  • You have a history of serious colon complications such as a severely swollen colon (toxic megacolon), a narrowing in the colon causing symptoms, pre-cancerous changes in the colon, or you have had part or all of your colon surgically removed.
  • You have used steroid medicines (such as prednisolone) anywhere in your body in the last 8 weeks.
  • You currently have an active gut infection or long-term diarrhoea caused by something other than your ulcerative colitis.
  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving a treatment intervention.
