Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People who have a walled-off collection of dead (necrotic) tissue in or around the pancreas, confirmed by MRI or CT scan of the abdomen or pelvis
  • People with confirmed or suspected infected pancreatic necrosis — confirmed means a lab test or scan has shown infection; suspected means signs of infection are present more than 14 days after pancreatitis began, such as ongoing organ failure in an ICU, or at least three signs of body-wide inflammation (such as high or low temperature, fast heart rate, fast breathing, abnormal white blood cell count, or elevated infection markers in the blood) with no other known source of infection
  • People whose necrotic collection is considered suitable for drainage through an endoscopic procedure, as determined by their treating doctor

Who may not be able to join:

  • People under 18 years of age
  • People who are more than 26 days past the start of their acute pancreatitis episode
  • People who need emergency open abdominal surgery due to a serious complication such as internal bleeding, a hole in the bowel, or dangerous pressure buildup in the abdomen
  • People whose necrotic collection is not suitable for an endoscopic procedure
  • People who are pregnant
  • People from whom informed consent cannot be obtained, either directly or through a legally authorised representative
