Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia according to established diagnostic criteria
- People who are currently on a stable medication routine for schizophrenia
- People whose schizophrenia has lasted more than 6 years and who have had at least one return of symptoms (relapse) in the past 3 years
- People who have at least one reliable support person, such as a family member, social worker, caseworker, residential facility staff member, or nurse
- People who are willing and available to attend all required study visits for the full duration of the trial, and who are willing to follow study procedures, which may include giving themselves injections of the study medication, storing and using the study medication as directed, keeping electronic or paper study diaries, and completing required questionnaires
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have ever been diagnosed with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, or any eating disorder
- People who have had a moderate or severe problem with substance or alcohol use within the past 180 days (roughly 6 months) before the screening visit
- People who have type 1 diabetes, or a history of diabetic ketoacidosis or a serious diabetic emergency involving very high blood sugar
- People who are currently at risk of harming themselves or who are considered to have a significant risk of suicide
- People who are already taking part in another clinical trial involving an investigational product or medical research that may not be compatible with this study
