Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 60 years or older
- People who have been diagnosed with an acute ischemic stroke, a transient ischemic attack (sometimes called a "mini-stroke"), or reduced blood flow affecting vision in the eye
- People whose symptoms began no more than 7 days before enrolling in the trial
- People who have no new neurological symptoms, or only mild symptoms that do not significantly affect daily functioning, such that care can be safely managed without hospital admission

Who may not be able to join:
- People who urgently need surgery or a medical procedure to prevent another stroke (for example, an operation to clear a blocked artery in the neck)
- People whose stroke symptoms have been changing or fluctuating in the 48 hours before enrolment
- People who currently have a fever-causing infection, or an infectious disease that requires them to be kept separate from others
- People who have significant difficulty swallowing, with a high risk of food or liquid entering the airway
- People who have serious medical or care needs that require several days of inpatient hospital treatment
- People who are receiving palliative (end-of-life) care that limits the use of certain diagnostic tests or treatments
- People who have previously taken part in this ambulatory stroke unit care model
- People who do not have statutory health insurance coverage in Germany
- People who do not have sufficient proficiency in German to understand the study procedures and assessments
