Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with stage I, II, or III breast cancer
  • You are aged 18 years or older
  • You are planned to receive chemotherapy that includes a type of drug called an anthracycline or a taxane
  • You are willing and able to give your consent to take part (participation is completely voluntary and your care will not be affected if you choose not to join)

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your breast cancer has spread to other parts of the body (stage IV)
  • You are planning to shave your head completely during chemotherapy (trimming or cutting your hair is allowed, as long as it does not interfere with measuring hair thickness)
  • You have a condition or situation that means you cannot safely use the PAXMAN Scalp Cooling System — this includes certain blood cancers, a cold-related skin allergy (cold urticaria), a blood condition called cold agglutinin disease, cancer that has spread to the scalp, certain very intensive chemotherapy treatments, or planned radiation to the skull (confirm with trial site)
  • You have sores, wounds, or pain on your scalp that could be made worse by wearing a scalp cooling cap
