Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with asthma by a doctor
- People whose lungs are working at less than 80% of the expected level, and whose breathing improves by at least 10% after using a reliever inhaler during a breathing test
- Adults between 18 and 75 years of age
- People who have been using a regular preventer inhaler containing an inhaled corticosteroid (a type of anti-inflammatory inhaler) at a stable dose for at least 3 months before joining the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently smoke cigarettes, or who have a significant past smoking history (more than 10 pack-years — confirm with trial site for what this means in your situation)
- People who currently vape nicotine
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had a respiratory infection (such as a chest or airway infection) within 4 weeks of the planned study date
- People whose lung function is below 50% of the expected level on breathing tests
- People who have had a bad reaction or intolerance to inhaled corticosteroids or fast-acting reliever inhalers
- People who are taking beta-blocker medications
- People who have used steroid tablets or certain other breathing-related medications (oral methyl-xanthines) within 30 days of the planned study visit
