Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are a man aged 45 or older
  • You are scheduled to have a type of prostate removal surgery using a robotic-assisted technique at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) or Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital (BWFH)
  • You are able to understand and sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have an allergy to, or a medical reason you cannot take, anti-inflammatory pain medicines such as ibuprofen or naproxen (known as NSAIDs)
  • You regularly use opioid pain medicines or have a history of substance misuse before your surgery

  • Your surgery does not go as planned — for example, if a serious complication occurs during the operation that means your case is no longer considered routine
