Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older.
- You consider yourself to be overweight or obese (based on your own report).
- You have had at least 3 episodes of binge eating in the past 30 days, and these episodes cause you significant emotional distress.
- You have a long-term health condition linked to being overweight (such as an underactive or overactive thyroid, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or polycystic ovary syndrome), as long as it is currently well-managed and stable.
- If you have a stable long-term health condition, it must have been managed with the same treatment for at least 12 weeks, with no recent medication changes, no recent serious health events, and at least one related medical check-up in the past 12 months.
- If you take any psychiatric medications, your dosage and type must have stayed the same for at least 12 weeks before joining.
- You have daily access to the internet and a computer or smartphone that allows you to take part in online sessions and complete assessments.
Who may not be able to join:
- You have engaged in behaviors to "undo" binge eating — such as making yourself vomit or regularly using laxatives — in the past 60 days.
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You have previously had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery.
- You are currently having thoughts of suicide.
- You currently have symptoms of a serious mental health condition — such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, complex PTSD, or a severe personality disorder — that significantly affects your daily functioning or requires specialist mental health care.
- You currently have a substance use problem serious enough that it requires specialist clinical treatment.
- You are currently receiving psychological therapy or nutritional treatment on a regular basis, or have an active treatment plan in place.
- You have a health condition that is not well-controlled, not being monitored by a doctor, or has recently involved medication changes, in a way that could affect your eating behavior, mood, or ability to take part (confirm with trial site).
- You have significant difficulties in daily functioning that, in the research team's judgment, would prevent you from safely and consistently taking part in the program (confirm with trial site).
