For the breast cancer group:
- People who are premenopausal (still having periods and not yet through menopause)
- People who have been diagnosed with Stage II or Stage III Triple-Negative Breast Cancer, meaning the cancer tests negative for three specific markers (estrogen receptor, progesterone receptor, and HER2)
- People who finished surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and/or immunotherapy between 3 and 9 months before joining the trial
- People whose heart health has been assessed by a heart specialist (cardiologist) as fit for exercise testing, including having had a heart ultrasound (echocardiogram)
For the healthy comparison group:
- People who are premenopausal (still having periods and not yet through menopause)
- People who have never been diagnosed with any type of cancer
- People whose age, body type, and fitness level are a close match to those in the breast cancer group
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant
- People who have an autoimmune condition, such as thyroid disease, inflammatory bowel disease, or eczema
- People who have a hormonal or metabolic condition, such as metabolic syndrome or diabetes
- People who have a heart or cardiovascular condition
- People who have been diagnosed with any other type of cancer
- People who have a health condition that makes physical activity unsafe or inadvisable, such as asthma, chronic lung disease, a spinal disc problem, or severe iron deficiency anaemia
