Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older at the time treatment begins
- People who have had a confirmed diagnosis of ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel disease affecting the large intestine) for at least 3 months before entering the study, supported by examination findings, camera investigations of the bowel, and tissue samples
- People whose ulcerative colitis is considered moderately to severely active at the start of the study, based on specific scoring measurements from clinical assessments and bowel camera examinations
- People who have started taking a medication called upadacitinib — either on its own or alongside another medication called vedolizumab — as part of their normal medical care at a participating hospital or clinic
- People for whom baseline health assessment records and follow-up information at 8 weeks after starting upadacitinib are available
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a diagnosis of Crohn's disease, indeterminate colitis, or another type of bowel inflammation that is not ulcerative colitis
- People who have previously had surgery to remove part or all of the large bowel (colectomy), or for whom such surgery was already planned at the time treatment began
- People who are already taking part in another interventional clinical trial involving upadacitinib during the study period
- People whose medical records do not contain enough information to assess how active their disease was at the start of the study or how they responded at 8 weeks
- People who have started taking other advanced bowel disease treatments — such as other biologic medications or similar small molecule drugs — after joining the study, except for vedolizumab in cases where that combination is being studied
