Who might be able to join this trial:

For people with AMD:

• Adults over 40 years of age who have been diagnosed with a specific type of age-related macular degeneration (AMD)
• People who are able to understand and sign an ethics-approved consent form
• People who have attended the clinic at least once before
• People whose previous eye scans show signs of this type of AMD in at least one eye (such as deposits under the retina or changes to the back of the eye)

For healthy volunteers:

• Adults over 40 years of age who have not been diagnosed with any type of AMD, and whose previous eye scans show no signs of AMD or other eye conditions affecting the retina
• People who have at least some minimal ability to detect light, which is needed to focus during the eye scan
• People whose eyes have been reviewed and confirmed as healthy by two independent clinicians

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose eyes have cloudiness or opacity (such as a significant cataract or cloudy cornea) that would prevent clear eye imaging
• People with very high levels of short-sightedness (at or beyond -10.00D) or long-sightedness (at or beyond +6.00D) that could affect image quality
• People with active eye infections, severe eye inflammation, or a recent eye injury
• People who have had eye surgery (such as cataract, retinal, or glaucoma surgery) within the past 3 months — though injections into the eye for a specific retinal condition may be an exception (confirm with trial site)
• People with a history of, or current signs of, other retinal conditions (such as diabetic eye disease, retinal vein or artery blockage, or high blood pressure-related eye damage), other than the specific AMD type this trial is studying
• People who have previously had certain types of eye surgery for retinal detachment or related conditions, as this could affect imaging results
• People who have difficulty keeping their gaze steady during imaging, including those with advanced involuntary eye movements, a significant lazy eye, or conditions such as dementia that affect concentration
• People with severe dry eye or other surface eye conditions that could interfere with imaging or cause discomfort during the procedure
• People with essential tremor (uncontrolled shaking of the head or neck) that would prevent clear imaging
• People who are unable to understand or who decline to sign the consent form
