Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women who have gone through menopause and have been diagnosed with invasive breast cancer confirmed by a needle biopsy
- The cancer is in one single spot only (not spread across multiple areas)
- The tumour measures 2 cm or smaller, as seen on ultrasound and a special type of mammogram that uses contrast dye
- No signs of cancer spread to the lymph nodes under the arm, as shown on ultrasound
- The cancer tests positive for estrogen and/or progesterone receptors (sometimes called "hormone receptor positive")
- The cancer tests negative for the HER2 protein
- Willingness to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer is of a specific type called infiltrating lobular carcinoma
- People whose cancer has a large area of non-invasive (in situ) cancer cells alongside the invasive cancer
- People whose cancer is found in more than one spot or more than one area of the breast
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot have a contrast-enhanced mammogram
- People who are not considered suitable for surgery
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body (distant metastasis)
