Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are between 18 and 45 years old at the time of joining the trial
• Both men and women are eligible to participate
• For people with a mental health condition: those who have been formally diagnosed with major depression, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder according to standard diagnostic guidelines
• For healthy volunteers: people who have no history of any mental health conditions
• People who do not have any serious physical health conditions and have no history of brain injury, such as a brain infection (encephalitis)

• People who have a history of head injury or brain-related conditions, such as epilepsy
• People who currently have a serious physical illness, such as cancer or a thyroid condition
• People who have metal devices inside their body, such as a pacemaker or a brain implant
• People who experience fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia) or who are otherwise unable to have an MRI scan
• People who are currently pregnant
