Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a woman who is scheduled to have laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery
- You are between 18 and 65 years old
- Your general health has been assessed by a doctor as being in an acceptable range for surgery (confirm with trial site)
- You have 3 or more of the following risk factors for feeling sick after surgery: being female, being a non-smoker, and having previously experienced nausea/vomiting after surgery or motion sickness
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a known allergy to the study medication or a medical reason you cannot take it
- You have a heart condition called Long-QT syndrome
- You are currently pregnant, breastfeeding, or menstruating
- You are a current smoker
- You have felt nauseous or been vomiting, or have taken anti-sickness medication, opioid painkillers, or steroid medication in the 24 hours before surgery
- You will need to be kept sedated or on a breathing machine after surgery
- You have serious kidney or liver problems
- You have a mental health or neurological (brain or nerve) condition
- You have a circulation problem affecting the back of the brain (confirm with trial site)
- You have a condition affecting your inner ear or balance system
- You have difficulty with language or communication
- You have a skin wound, rash, or infection at the area where acupressure or stimulation would be applied on your body
- You have a nerve injury in your arm or hand
- You have an implanted heart device such as a pacemaker or defibrillator
- You have taken part in another clinical trial in the past 4 weeks
