Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are willing and able to give written agreement to take part (or a legal representative can do this on your behalf)
  • You are a woman who has gone through menopause, are aged 50 or older, and have been diagnosed with a specific type of breast cancer called invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC), confirmed by a biopsy, at a stage where the tumor is a certain size and has not spread widely to lymph nodes
  • You have already chosen and are healthy enough to have breast-conserving surgery (surgery that removes the tumor but keeps most of the breast) at the time of joining the trial
  • Your cancer is a specific subtype where it is driven by the hormone estrogen (ER+) and does not have high levels of a protein called HER2 (HER2-), as confirmed by laboratory tests on the biopsy sample

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have previously had breast cancer in the same breast
  • Your cancer has spread significantly to many nearby lymph nodes, or has spread to other parts of the body (stage 4)
  • Your cancer doctor believes you would be better treated with chemotherapy before surgery
  • You are not able to have full breast surgery for any reason, including if your cancer is inoperable or has spread to other parts of the body
  • You have an allergy to gadolinium, which is a dye used during breast MRI scans
