Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been formally diagnosed with asthma by a doctor (following established international guidelines) and have been receiving treatment for asthma for at least 3 years before joining the study
- Adults aged 18 or older who are receiving outpatient care (not currently admitted to hospital)
- People whose asthma is not well controlled despite already using a combination of inhaled medicines (a long-acting beta-agonist plus high-dose inhaled corticosteroids, with or without an additional inhaled medicine called a LAMA), taken for at least 3 months
- People whose asthma meets the medical criteria for a specific inhaler medicine (Trimbow 172/5/9 μg), which includes: having had at least one asthma flare-up requiring steroid tablets or injections in the past 12 months; having asthma that is uncontrolled or only partially controlled based on a standard symptom score; and having a breathing test result below 80% of the expected level
- People who have recently been switched to the study inhaler (Trimbow 172/5/9 μg) no more than one week before joining, or who are switched on the day of joining
- People who have given written agreement to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 30 days
- People who were admitted to hospital because of an asthma flare-up within the 4 weeks before enrolling
- People who have another lung or breathing condition (other than asthma or COPD) that could affect how well the study treatment works, or who have another significant health situation that could make it difficult to use the treatment consistently
- People who regularly use high-dose steroid tablets or steroid injections on an ongoing basis (above specified daily dose thresholds)
- People who rely on continuous oxygen therapy
- People who have had any cancer in the last 5 years
- People who have active tuberculosis or a history of tuberculosis
- People who are currently using, or have used in the past 12 months, biologic medicines for asthma treatment
- People who meet any of the additional exclusion conditions listed in the official prescribing information for the Trimbow 172/5/9 μg inhaler (confirm with trial site)
