Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged between 18 and 80 years old, of any gender
• People who have been diagnosed with either an ischemic or hemorrhagic stroke, confirmed by a CT or MRI scan, where the stroke occurred within the past year

• People whose swallowing difficulties are caused by something other than stroke, such as other neurological conditions (for example, motor neuron disease or myasthenia gravis) or a growth or tumour in the body
• People with a psychiatric condition or severe memory or thinking difficulties that would prevent them from cooperating with the treatment
• People whose doctors estimate they have less than 3 months to live
• People who are known to be allergic to contrast dye (a substance sometimes used in medical imaging)
• People with a severe fear of needles that would prevent them from tolerating the procedure
• Women who are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or currently breastfeeding
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial, or who have received acupuncture treatment, within the past week
