Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You have been diagnosed with gallstones in your gallbladder AND stones in your common bile duct, confirmed by ultrasound, MRI, or other medical scans
- All of your gallbladder stones are 1 cm (about half an inch) in size or smaller, or you have very small sludge-like stones
- You have never had surgery to remove your gallbladder, any previous surgery on your bile ducts, or a procedure called ERCP, and you have not had any stomach or intestine reconstruction surgery
- Your gallbladder appears to be a normal shape and size, with walls that are not thickened (confirm with trial site)
- You have at least one risk factor that makes you more likely to develop a complication called pancreatitis after an ERCP procedure — examples include being female, being under 35 years old, having had pancreatitis before, or several other medical factors (confirm full list with trial site)
- You are willing to participate and have signed a consent form
Who may not be able to join:
- You have been diagnosed with severe chronic inflammation of the gallbladder, a hardened ("porcelain") gallbladder, suspected gallbladder cancer, or a condition called Mirizzi syndrome
- You have an unusually positioned digestive opening or a birth defect affecting your bile duct or pancreas (confirm with trial site)
- You have a serious overall health condition that makes an ERCP procedure unsafe for you
- Your blood does not clot properly, based on specific blood test results (confirm with trial site)
- You are pregnant
- During the procedure, a medical wire accidentally entered your pancreatic duct three or more times (this would be assessed during the procedure itself)
- You are allergic to aspirin or anti-inflammatory pain medications such as ibuprofen or naproxen
- You do not have a rectum, either from birth or due to surgery
- You currently have severe acute pancreatitis (serious inflammation of the pancreas)
