Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You are over 21 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with one of these specific types of glaucoma: Primary open angle glaucoma, Normal tension glaucoma, Pigment dispersion glaucoma, or Pseudoexfoliative glaucoma
  • Your glaucoma is not well controlled even with the maximum amount of eye drops or medications you can tolerate
  • Your vision has been affected to a certain level as measured by a standard eye test (confirm with trial site)
  • The pressure inside your eye falls within a specific range (14–28 mmHg) as measured by your eye doctor
  • You have a healthy enough number of cells on the inner surface of your cornea (the clear front part of your eye) (confirm with trial site)

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have been diagnosed with closed-angle glaucoma or another type of secondary glaucoma not listed above
  • You no longer have your natural lens in your eye, or you have a certain type of artificial lens placed at the front of your eye
  • You have previously had glaucoma surgery, a shunt or valve implanted for glaucoma, or a procedure to reduce eye pressure using a laser or other method that affects the eye's drainage tissue within certain time periods (confirm with trial site)
  • You have silicone oil inside your eye
  • You have no light perception at all in the eye being considered
  • You are currently using steroid medications, either as eye drops or taken by mouth
  • You have certain conditions affecting the surface of your eye, such as a growth on the white of the eye (pterygium)
  • You currently have any active inflammation or infection in or around your eye, such as eyelid inflammation, conjunctivitis, or inflammation inside the eye
  • You have gel from the back of your eye (vitreous) that has moved into the front part of your eye
  • You have abnormal new blood vessel growth on the iris (the coloured part of your eye), or had this within the last 6 months
  • You are unwilling or unable to give consent, accept being randomly assigned to a treatment group, or attend the required follow-up appointments
