Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are permanent citizens living in Finland and who, in the investigator's opinion, are able and willing to follow the study requirements.
- People who have given written or witnessed informed consent before any study procedures begin, including consent for the trial to access their health register data.
- People who are 76 years of age or older at the time of signing the consent form.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have previously received a Herpes Zoster (shingles) vaccine.
- People who have a confirmed dementia diagnosis, are currently being investigated for dementia, or who currently take or have previously taken medications used to treat dementia. Note: a diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment alone, without other signs of cognitive decline or dementia, does not automatically prevent participation (confirm with trial site).
- People who have severely weakened immune systems.
- People who are currently participating in another clinical trial involving an investigational product, or who are participating in another trial focused on preventing dementia.
- People with a known serious allergy to any ingredient in the vaccine used in this study, or who have previously had a life-threatening reaction to this vaccine or any vaccine containing the same ingredients.
- People who are currently living in a nursing facility.
