Who might be able to join this trial:
- People between 45 and 55 years of age
- People with a Body Mass Index (a measure of body weight relative to height) of 35 or below
- People who have been diagnosed with primary knee osteoarthritis (wear-and-tear knee joint disease) based on recognised classification standards
- People whose knee osteoarthritis symptoms have been present for 3 months or longer
- People whose knee osteoarthritis has been graded as moderate in severity (Grade II or III on a standard X-ray grading scale)
- People who have at least one active trigger point (a tender, tight muscle spot) in the gluteus medius muscle (a muscle in the hip/buttock area)
- People with osteoarthritis in both knees may be considered, with the more severely affected knee selected for the study
- People whose current knee pain rates at 4 out of 10 or higher on a standard pain scale
- People who are able to understand what the study involves, follow the study procedures, and attend all required visits
- People whose knee diagnosis meets specific criteria: knee pain plus bone spurs visible on X-ray, plus at least one of the following — being over 50 years old, morning stiffness lasting less than 30 minutes, or a crackling/grating sensation in the knee during movement
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had any previous knee surgery or a broken bone in the lower limb
- People with chronic inflammatory conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis
- People whose knee shows signs of significant joint inflammation, such as warmth, swelling, or redness
- People whose examination suggests a structural problem inside the knee joint (confirm with trial site)
- People who are pregnant
- People who have had a knee joint procedure (arthroscopy) or received injections of hyaluronic acid into the knee within the past 6 months
- People who have used anti-inflammatory pain medicines (such as ibuprofen or naproxen) within one week before the screening appointment
- People with bone or joint diseases, birth-related musculoskeletal abnormalities, or nervous system conditions that could interfere with the treatment being studied
- People who have participated in another intervention study — such as a strength training program or physiotherapy for knee osteoarthritis — within the past 6 months
- People who have regularly used strong pain-relieving or psychotropic (mind-affecting) medications for one week or more during the 8 weeks before screening
